Yeah maybe. Central midfield is probably the most competitive area of the team though so he'd need a very good run to summer 2012 to break through.

Yeah I like Gibbs a lot, but for me, he still has to prove he can play a full season without breaking down injured. I hope he can, I thought this would be his year. Bit disappointed Wenger felt he needed to bring in Santos.

Johnson can be poor defensively. I think in a year we might see him drop back to 3rd choice behind Walker and Richards. But for now he's in!

Good squad. I'd have Emmanuel Frimpong on stand by as well, he might well be a sound addition to that squad.

Kieran Gibbs. That is all. Glen Johnson can piss off. Most overrated full back in the Premiership if you ask me.

Yeah fair point. My thinking was (according to Wikipedia), the UK is:
83.8% England
8.4% Scotland
4.8% Wales
3.0% Northern Ireland

So using the above for a squad of 18 you get:
15.1 English
1.5 Scottish
0.9 Welsh
0.5 Northern Irish

I was taking a 'generously representative' approach to give more status to the smaller nations, and used the wildcards to plug any gaps. Scotland and NI aren't massively strong at U21 just now (hence Adam and Lafferty), and there doesn't seem to be many young keepers coming through. Foster seems a good choice - think he'd be up for it seeing as he can't get into the England team.

If you tried splitting it evenly four ways you'd have 4.5 players, so you'd probably go 6 English and 4 from everywhere else. Not sure who you'd pick though!

Surely there has to be an even percentage of nationalities. I can see that being difficult though considering 11 can't be split up evenly!!
